ASTERIX (ATC standard)

All Purpose Structured Euro Control Surveillance Information Exchange ( ASTERIX ) is a book published by EUROCONTROL protocol for the exchange of flight data monitoring. This mainly includes radar data but also, for example, weather information, data for time synchronization and much more. The protocol solves increasingly from older protocols such as CAA (protocol), RDIF and MADREC.

The ASTERIX protocol is divided into so-called categories of 0-255 (where not all the numbers are assigned ). Each category includes a specific type of data (eg just weather data ), some categories are completely reserved for the military air traffic control.
