Astoria Bydgoszcz

Astoria Bydgoszcz ( previous name: Ostromecko Astoria Bydgoszcz, kujawiak -Astoria Bydgoszcz, Samsung Astoria Bydgoszcz ) is a Polish basketball team that played between 2003 and 2006 in the Dominet Basket League and is based in Bydgoszcz ( Bromberg ).

History

The club was founded in 1924. The foundation of the basketball department was 1927. Astoria in 1971 took over the basketball team of Zawisza Bydgoszcz.

In the 2003/2004 season Astoria received a " wild card " for the Dominet Basket League. In the 2005/2006 season the team finished 9th overall in the Dominet Basket League. In the following season Astoria lack of financial collateral received a license for the highest Polish league and had relegated to the third division. On 18 May 2007, the General Assembly decided to disband the 83 -year-old club for financial reasons. The sports facilities of the club took over Zawisza Bydgoszcz. The name and tradition of the club was taken over by the school sports club of the grammar school No. 26, the basketball team plays in the second league.
