Astra (satellite)

Astra 1L is a television satellite at 19.2 ° East SES Global ( formerly SES Astra - Société Européenne des Satellites - Astra ), headquartered in Betz village in Luxembourg, which is used for the transmission of television programs in Europe.

It was successfully launched on 4 May 2007 22:29 UTC in Earth orbit from Guiana Space Centre in French Guiana.

The new satellite complements the Astra satellites that are positioned at the orbital position 19.2 degrees East. It replaces some existing capacity, while ensuring the Astra fleet off by redundancies.

Astra 1L is the ninth Astra satellite to be launched on with Arianespace, and the third Astra satellite, which starts on an Ariane 5 rocket.

Reception

The launch of Astra 1L enabled, Astra 2C Astra 1E and stationed at 19.2 ° East to move to the orbital position 28.2 ° East and 23.5 ° East, where she sang the much-needed capacity increase in the UK and Ireland.
