Astrid Sandvik

Astrid Olsdatter Sandvik ( born October 1, 1939 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian former alpine skier.

Career

Sandvik represented three times their country at the Winter Olympics: 1956 in Cortina d' Ampezzo, 1960 in Squaw Valley and 1964 in Innsbruck. Best result was there in 1956, a sixth place in the slalom. They also reached two fourth places in the slalom at the World Championships in 1958 and 1962 and a sixth place in the downhill in 1958. The staged in her home town of Oslo Holmenkollen Kandahar her reach 1961-1963 seven victories. In addition, it was from 1958 to 1963 Norwegian champion four times, three times in the slalom and one in giant slalom.

1963 Sandvik was awarded together with Alevtina Koltschina, Pawel Koltschin and Torbjørn Yggeseth with the Holmenkollen medal. She is just one of nine non - Nordic skiers since 1895, which was bestowed this honor.
