Astrium Satellites

Astrium Satellites ( Astrium ) is a division of Astrium, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of EADS itself. The second division, Astrium Space Transportation (ST).

Astrium deals primarily with the development and construction of satellites. The product range includes satellite systems for commercial and military telecommunications, Earth observation, space exploration, science and navigation and space equipment and associated ground infrastructure. Astrium is active in France, Germany, Great Britain and Spain, and employs about 8300 employees.

Under the brand Astrium EADS applies since June 2007, also a future spacecraft for space tourists. It should shoot passengers for about 200,000 euros for three minutes to more than 100 km into space.

Predecessor companies include Matra Marconi Space and DaimlerChrysler Aerospace AG ( DASA) Dornier with her daughter Satellite Systems GmbH.
