Astypalaea

Astypalaia (Greek Ἀστυπάλαια or Ἀστυπαλαία, latin Astypalaea ) is a figure from Greek mythology.

She is the daughter of Perimede and Phoinix, a son of the Phoenician king Agenor, and is considered a sister of Europe. According to another tradition, it is Europe's niece.

With the god Poseidon Astypalaia has three sons: Eurypylos, the king of the island of Kos is Ancaeus, king of Samos and is taking part in the voyage of the Argonauts, and Periclymenus.

According to her, the island Astypalia is named in the eastern Aegean.
