Asylum (1981 video game)

Asylum is an American computer game company Screenplay. (Formerly MedSystems ) from the year 1985, it belongs to the genre of the text adventures with graphics. Previous versions of the game appeared in 1981 ( Asylum ) and 1982 ( Asylum II).

Action

The action takes place in a facility that is similar to a psychiatric hospital. The player in the role of a patient suffering from the Adventure Syndrome Leading to Ultimate Madness ( Asylum ). The aim of the game is to escape from the facility. The player has to solve puzzles in different rooms of the facility, talk to other patients and to navigate through a labyrinth of corridors connecting the rooms.

Gameplay

The control of the single-player adventure games using a keyboard and cursor keys. Using a text parser are simple English words and phrases entered in order, for example, in a room to take a subject ( "get" ) or to study ( " examine "). The navigation through the corridors between the rooms via cursor keys.

Development and production details

The game has two-dimensional, the text description of the action places additional graphics. As special features the three-dimensional maze and the novel in the Adventure range partial control were highlighted with the cursor keys. An English reviewer assessed the overall game as entertaining ("I found the whole thing quite enjoyable" ).
