Atamurat

Atamyrat (Russian Атамурат Atamurat ), formerly Kerki ( Керки ), is a city in the east of Turkmenistan in the province Lebap. The estimated population for 2013 is 31 580 persons at the 1989 census, 19,747 people were counted.

Atamyrat is located on the left bank of the Amu Darya River across from Kerkiçi. The two places are linked by a railway bridge, railway connections also exist after Türkmenabat and Qarshi and Termez in Uzbekistan.

The place is known since the 10th century. The town charter earned Atamyrat in 1925.
