Atari Microsoft BASIC

Atari Microsoft BASIC and Atari Microsoft BASIC II were variants of the BASIC programming language as a plug-in module ( RX8035 ) or floppy disk ( CX8126 ) home computers from the company Atari were put on the market from the year 1981 for the 8 -bit. Atari Microsoft BASIC was a modified version of Microsoft BASIC. Originally wanted the original Atari using Microsoft BASIC on their computer, but this does not fit with its approximately 11 KB in the initially foreseen is 8 KB ROM cartridges of the company. Therefore, instead of the Microsoft BASIC by the company Shepardson Microsystems Inc. the smaller Atari BASIC written, but had a lack of compatibility with the industry standard Microsoft BASIC. Later why was the latter also still available ( on larger plug-in modules ) for the Atari computer.

Since the cartridge had only 16KB memory, the remaining 11KB are included on an " extension" diskette. The cartridge version had the name Atari Microsoft BASIC II

The programming language was created for the devices Atari 400 / Atari 800 / Atari XL and XE Atari.
