Atatürk Museum, Şişli

The Ataturk Museum ( Ataturk Turkish Muzesi) since 1942 is a historical museum that is dedicated to the life of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founding father of Turkey. It is located in the Şişli district on the European side of Istanbul.

It is located in a three-story house built in 1908. Mustafa Kemal rented the house after he had returned from the Syrian front, and lived there with his mother Zübeyde, his sister Makbule and the adopted son Abdurrahim. He lived there until May 16, 1919 the day on which he on the ship Bandırma went to Samsun, on his way to the headquarters of the supervisory authority of the ninth Ottoman Army in Erzurum. The house was bought in 1928 by the Municipality of Istanbul, and some personal belongings of Atatürk were kept there. On 15 June 1942, the house was converted into a museum and opened as the Atatürk Revolution Museum for visitors.

The museum houses personal belongings of Atatürk such clothing and collections, and also historical documents, photographs and paintings from his lifetime.
