Atef Sedki

Atif Muhammad Naguib Sidqi ( born August 29, 1930 in Tanta, † 25 February 2005 in Cairo, Arab عاطف محمد نجيب صدقي ʿ Atif Muhammad Naguib Sidqi ) was an Egyptian politician. From 1986 to 1996 he was the prime minister of his country.

Sidqi was a trained lawyer and economist. He received his Ph.D. in economics from the Sorbonne. Prior to his appointment, he was Head of the Central Court of Egypt.

Sidqi was appointed on 10 November 1986 by Hosni Mubarak prime minister. He followed Ali Mahmoud Lutfi in office. During his reign he put not without occasional criticism of the proposed reforms to the International Monetary Fund. On November 25, 1993, he lived in Cairo a stop of the militant Islamic group al - Jihad.

After more than nine years in office Sidqi took effect on January 2, 1996 with his entire cabinet back. Two days later, his successor, Kamal El- Ganzouri was appointed prime minister.

From a femoral neck fracture he suffered in 2004, Sidqi never recovered. He died on 25 February 2005 at the age of 74, shortly after he was taken to a Cairo hospital. He left his native of Germany Ursula and two children together.
