Atelaw Yeshetela Bekele

Atelaw Yeshetela ( Atelaw Yeshetela Bekele; born December 4, 1987) is a Belgian long-distance runner of Ethiopian origin, is especially successful in cross-country running.

He was born in Ethiopia and came at the age of 16 years to Belgium. In 2008 he received the Belgian citizenship. He competed in the European Cross Country Championships in Brussels in U23 race that target is not reached. The following year he finished second at the national championships in the 10,000 -meter run and was subsequently nominated for participation in the U23 European Athletics Championships in Kaunas, where he however gave up the race prematurely. In the Cross Country Championships in Dublin, he won the bronze medal in the U23 age group.

In 2010, he remained largely without outstanding results. At the World Cross Country Championships in Bydgoszcz, he finished 94th place and at the Cross Country Championships in Albufeira 54th place. He celebrated his biggest success so far with his victory at the Cross Country Championships 2011 in Velenje.
