Atessa

Atessa is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 10,805 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Chieti in the Abruzzo region. The community is located about 38.5 kilometers southwest of Chieti. The name of the capital is made up of the two settlements that previously existed independently: Ate and Tixa.

Economy and Transport

The community is the site of the joint venture Société Européenne de Véhicules Léger Sud. Here is the Vans Fiat and PSA Peugeot Citroën to be mounted. Additionally, it contains Honda maintains its Italian manufacturing plant for motorcycles.

The community is located at the former State Road 364 di Atessa. Atessa was coming sooner terminus of ferrovia Sangritana of Lanciano. The track has been closed since 1972.
