Athens Airways was a private Greek regional airline based in Athens and based on the Airport Athens Eleftherios Venizelos.

History

Athens Airways was founded in 2008 and adopted on 31 January 2009, flight operations with purely internal Greek connections. The company announced that it would use the high-traffic cities, hoping in this way the competitors Olympic Airlines and Aegean Airlines to make customers abstreitig. The first aircraft was delivered on 16 December 2008. On January 16, 2009, the Company received the official pilot's license and led its first flight on 31 January 2009 after Alexandroupoli by. Athens Airways planned to sponsor basketball teams Aigion Keravnos to be. They also sponsored the All- Star Game of the Greek Basketball League, as official carrier of the players, officials, journalists and organizers.

In spring 2010, Athens Airways lost a government-subsidized order to operate certain routes due to several irregularities concerning the reliability of services and the origin of the aircraft. In the fall of 2010 she finally stopped operating completely.
