Athletic Park, Wellington

The Athletic Park was a stadium in the New Zealand capital Wellington, which was mainly used for rugby union games. It was located in Newtown, and was known for its steep General Admission grandstands that were exposed to the frequently occurring there, fierce gusts of wind. The seating capacity was approximately 35,000.

Was opened the stadium on April 6, 1896 from 1908 it was owned by the Wellington Rugby Football Union. The Athletic Park was the venue of games often the All Blacks, the New Zealand rugby union team, and also some games during the Rugby Union World Cup in 1987.
