Athol Guy

Athol Guy (born 5 January 1940 in Colac, Victoria ) is an Australian musician, politician and advertising executive. He was a founding member, bassist and singer of the established in 1963, pop-folk group The Seekers. After the split of the band Guy was a member of the State Parliament of Victoria. After that, he was very successful in advertising.

Life

Guy worked from 1959 to 1964 in marketing and sales for J. Walter Thompson. From 1962 to 1968, from 1975 to 1978 he was successful with The Seekers. In between, he managed his farm. From 1974 to 1979 he ran a thoroughbred stud farm. From 1977 to 1981 he was Managing Director of Laker Airways Pty Ldt. From 1982 to 1989 he worked in advertising at Clemenger Harvie. From 1996 to 2001 he operated a farm again.

Policy

From 1971 until his retirement in 1979 he was a member of the regional parliament of Victoria, Australia for the Liberal Party.
