Atilla Engin

Atilla Engin (* 1946 in Kayseri ) is a Turkish drummer, percussionist, Fusion artist, bandleader and composer. From 1986 to 1989 he was a lecturer at the Rytmisk Conservatory of Music in Denmark. From 1989 to 2005 he lived in New York, where he founded various orchestras. Since 2005 he lives in Brazil, where he founded the Brazil World Orchestra.

Life and work

Engin started his musical career in Istanbul. In 1975, he moved to Copenhagen, one of the jazz centers of Europe. His first jazz rock band Matao he founded in 1976. In 1980 he founded the Atilla Engin Group. Engin one of the founders of the company founded in 1986, state-owned Royal Copenhagen Jazz Conservatory of Denmark. In this Conservatory, he has lectured for four years. In 1985 he took part in India at the international percussion festival Valley Vadhya Utsav, which was organiziert by the Indian state, along with Okay Temiz and Burhan Öçal. In the same year he composed the prelude for the Roskilde Festival. In 1986 he won the international drums and percussion Festival World to World organized for four years. 1987 won Engin Student Big Band " tyrkis " the first prize in the Dortmund Big Band Festival. His third and last orchestra was founded in 1999 with the name The Istanbul Orchestra. Since 2005 he lives in Brazil.

Turkey

In 1971 he has a poem by Omar Khayyam entitled Felek Usta composed and sung. In the orchestra Atilla Özdemiroglu and Sanar Yurdatapan have played. in 1974 Ozdemir Erdogan has his song kumsalda sung on the record. The song was a hit and remained for weeks in the pop charts. The text, the music and the arrangement came from Atilla Engin. He has played in the recording studio for this song himself piano and drums. His second song Bütün Içkiler Benden Bu Gece was sung by the singer Alpay on the record and in the reception of Selda Bagcans Anayasso song he played drums.

Europe

Engin lectured in the Branbjerg Staevne, a summer school for jazz. The Atilla Engin Group has released her fourth album, No Money No Honey. Arto Tunçboyaciyan has played in this album. The Atilla Engin Group has released their fifth album Melo Perquana, with the Danish jazz bassist Niels Henning Ørsted Pedersen ( NHØP ). America

In 1989, Atilla Engin end of the year to New York. 1992 Engin has founded his first orchestra in America, the New World Orchestra. In 1993, the New World Orchestra gave its first concert in the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. After this concert, the orchestra has given several concerts in different clubs of New York. 1996 Atilla Engin has founded his second orchestra, Turquoise.

Turquoise has been several jazz fusion concerts, as the New York Mayfest. 1999 Turquoise has her first CD, Mosaic Of Anatolia published. Most of the songs on this CD were recorded live in the Nightingale's Jazz Club in New York. Turquoise has given the concert help for Erbebenopfer in Turkey in the Florence Gould Hall in New York. At this concert the guitarist Al Di Meola and the Indian percussionist Badal Roy were involved with their orchestras. 2000 The Istanbul Orchestra was founded. The The Istanbul Orchestra has given in various New York clubs several concerts. Atilla Engin and The Istanbul Orchestra have realized with the Turkish saz players Arif Sag and Erdal Erzincan in New York Symphony Space, the Anatolia, Word Music Concert.
