Atlanta Beat (WPS)

Atlanta Beat is an American football franchise. The active in women's soccer team competed in the Women's Professional Soccer.

History

Between 2001 and 2003, Atlanta was represented with its eponymous football franchise in the Women 's United Soccer Association ( WUSA ). The team reached the Championship play-offs in 2001 and 2003 even the final in all three seasons. There they had to admit defeat against San Jose CyberRays respectively Washington Freedom. With resolution of the Championship in September 2003, the franchise ceased to exist.

Founded in 2008 with the Women's Professional Soccer, a new North American Women's Football Championship. The entrepreneur Fitz Johnson requested a spot for a team from Atlanta who has been approved him for the second season of competition in 2010. In June 2009, the franchise was officially recorded. Already in August, took head coach Gareth O'Sullivan his work on and put his coaching staff together, in September, the first players were committed.

In the 2010 Atlanta Beat had no chance. In the comprehensive seven teams league team to Tina Ellertson, Lori Chalupny, Hope Solo, Mami Yamaguchi and Johanna Rasmussen finished in last place in the standings.
