Atlantic County is a county located in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Mays Landing.

History

Originally, the County was inhabited by the tribe of the Lenni Lenape Indians. After the southern New Jersey has been explored in the 16th century by sailors of various nations, there was a further exploration by Henry Hudson in 1609. The first settlement took place in the summer Point, named after John Sommers, the overseer of the streets and the harbor was appointed Great Egg Harbor.
