Atlantic Division (NHL)
The Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference is a corresponding division of the North American Hockey League NHL. It comprises eight teams, as well as the Metropolitan Division as its counterpart in the Eastern Conference.
The classification of the Conference in Divisions done quite arbitrarily. So the Atlantic Division includes all the teams in the Eastern Conference, which are located north of New York (including all Canadian teams), as well as the teams from Florida. The Atlantic Division was after the expansion of the league founded in 1993 as the successor of Patrick Division. As part of the restructuring at the beginning of the 2013/14 season, the term " Atlantic Division " was transferred to the former as the Northeast Division -known division. The former Atlantic Division is now called the Metropolitan Division and together with the Atlantic even the entire Eastern Conference.
