Atlas Model Railroad

The Atlas Model Railroad Company, Inc. produces model trains in N scale, H0 and track 0

The company is the largest manufacturer of model railway tracks in the U.S., particularly flex track and turnouts are produced in the " Code 55 - track profile " ( 1.4 mm). Furthermore, hubs, bridges, and various rolling stock are made.

History

In 1924 Stephan Sr. Schaffan the Atlas Tool Company in Newark. 1933 rose his son Stephan Jr. Schaffan 16 -year-old in the company of his father. As an avid airplane model maker he got the job of a trader to improve model train tracks, this had been assembled from sleepers and rail profiles themselves. Stephan Schaffan Jr. developed machines for the automated production of tracks, and rail connectors for pre-assembled turnouts and flex track. These products opened the market for model trains to a broad public.

Built in 1947, the previous garage sales a factory in Hillside (New Jersey), in which the products were produced for the mass market. On September 30, 1949, the Atlas Tool Company Inc. was officially established.

1962 Atlas presented before a highway system, which later formed the basis for the Faller AMS vehicles.
