Atlas Oryx

The Oryx is one on the SA 330 Puma -based, medium- heavy transport helicopter of the South African manufacturer Denel Aviation of South Africa.

When from the SA330 Puma it is used by the armed forces of South Africa for different tasks:

  • Transport tasks Passenger transport (max. 14 seats)
  • Transporting troops (16 soldiers on seats or 20 soldiers on the ground)
  • Ship Supply
  • Transport of external loads ( 4500 kg )

Design features include the landing gear fairings built external fuel tanks for a maximum range of 400 km, foldable rotor blades and connectors for medical device. The Oryx has next to two large side doors and a rear loading hatch for long loads. The pilot seats are armored to withstand the fire from assault rifles. For use in Africa, the two turbines also have special sand filter.

For rescue missions Oryx with weather radar, a winch can ( max. 272 kg load), swim bladders and searchlight be equipped.

As an option, additional tanks can be set up that will increase the range to 2000 km in the hold.
