Atlin Volcanic Field

P1f1p5

The Atlin volcanic field consists of numerous cinder cones and is located east of Atlin Lake in northwestern British Columbia. The largest volcanic phenomenon is the Ruby Mountain, named after its striking colored tephra deposits on its summit and on its flanks. Oral traditions of miners in the area report an outbreak of the Ruby Mountains in November 1898 and niedergehendem ash rain. However, studies of the area were able to confirm no evidence of an eruption in historic times, which is why the descriptions are considered unsafe.
