Atokos

Atokos (Greek Άτοκος ( f sg ), literally, barren, unborn ' because of the sparse vegetation ) is an island in the Ionian Sea, about nine kilometers north-east of Ithaca. It extends over approximately 4.5 square kilometers, rises to 334 meters above sea level and is part of the territory of the municipality of Ithaca.

The mountainous island has several beaches in small bays and has caves in the otherwise rocky coastline on. On the island live goats, but it is no longer permanently inhabited. A house and a small chapel, the only building. The island is privately owned.
