Atotech

Atotech is an international specialty chemicals company, a subsidiary of the French oil and gas company Total SA, headquartered in Berlin, Germany.

Atotech is one of the world's leading supplier of specialty chemical processes and equipment for the printed circuit boards, chip carriers and semiconductor industry ( Electronics), as well as decorative and functional surface treatment ( General Metal Finishing).

Atotech is active in more than 40 countries and operates chemical and plant production facilities in Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Spain, China, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, India, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and the United States. 2012, the company employed approximately 4,000 people. Atotech was founded in 1993, when the ELF Atochem Group merged its M & T Harshaw business with Schering Galvanotechniksparte.

One of the biggest competitors of Atotech are the companies Enthone and MacDermid.

History

As part of the "Schering - Galvanotechniksparte " the roots of Atotech go back to the year 1895, when Schering was patented by potassium cyanide to a process for the leaching of gold and silver. In 1901, the Galvanotechniksparte created and produced salt mixtures for the storage of metals - Brand Name Trisalyt.

1936 developed the Galvanotechniksparte the first "fast" electrolytes - Copper Trisalyt Extra Rapid - and the world's first Glanzoberflächenbad - brilliant. The success of these innovations led to the establishment of the first Department of the Galvanotechnikanlagenbau.

In 1951, Schering AG opened the Galvanotechniksparte in Feucht, Germany, where Atotech until today has its main production facility for attachments. 1989 involved the Galvanotechniksparte a new facility in Berlin, Germany.

In 1993, the Schering AG sold its Galvanotechniksparte to the French chemical company Elf Atochem. The ELF Atochem Group merged its M & T Harshaw branch operation with the Galvanotechniksparte Schering AG and so founded the Atotech Germany GmbH.

Following the establishment of production sites and service centers in Germany followed by other manufacturing and service networks in other European countries, in Asia and in North and South America.

Today is Atotech core business of decorative and functional surface finishing, printed circuit boards as well as the complementary fields of electronic materials, chip carrier and semiconductor technologies. The company offers custom-made production systems and local service for customers all over the world.
