ATP Athens Open

The ATP tournament of Athens ( Athens officially open, most recently Athens International) is a former men's tennis tournament, which was played from 1986 to 1994 in the Greek capital. Played outdoors on clay courts, the venue was the Athens Lawn Tennis Club, where already the tennis competition of the Olympic Games was held in 1896. The tournament was presented in the ATP World Series, the previous series, the ATP World Tour 250 record winner, the Spaniard Jordi Arrese, who won the individual competition twice for itself, in double the Spaniard Javier Sánchez is also with two tracks of the record winner.

Since 2008, a tournament in Athens will be held under the name Status Athens Open as part of the ATP Challenger Tour again. Played however, is here on outdoor hard courts and no longer in Athens Lawn Tennis Club, but in the Olympic Tennis Centre in the Olympic Sports Complex Athens where the Olympic Games were held in 2004.
