ATP Itaparica

The ATP tournament of Itaparica ( officially Sul America Open, last Citibank Open) is a former men's tennis tournament, which was held in 1982 and then from 1986 to 1990 on the Brazilian island of Itaparica. It was played during the entire tournament history on outdoor hard courts. The tournament ran recently in the ATP World Series, the predecessor series on the ATP World Tour 250 In the 1991 season the tournament by the Banespa Open was replaced in São Paulo in the tour calendar.

Only in double domestic players were able to win the tournament (1982 & João Soares Barbosa Givaldo and in 1990 Mauro Menezes & Fernando Roese ), although in individual could with Luiz Mattar even reach the finals a Brazilian, but he was denied by the young Andre Agassi; this was the first professional title of his long career. Mats Wilander won on Itaparica, however, his last tournament on the ATP Tour. In individual no one could win the tournament more than once, in a double Sergio Casal and Emilio Sánchez are with two wins record title holder.
