Description

The Attic helmet is made of bronze. He has an ellipsoidal helmet bell. In the lower head region of the helmet narrowed greatly. The neck protector has a special design for this type of helmet; the neck guard drops almost vertically and is then bent outwardly. In the lateral head area, he is also pulled down deep and provided with cutouts for the ears of the wearer. On the face region cheek flaps are secured with the help of hinges. The cheek pieces are wider and rounded downwards to the rear. At the front they are provided in the center with a pointed projection. On the helmet top mounts for plumes or other figural ornaments are attached depending on the version. There are different versions. It was widely used in ancient times. He got his name by its use in Greece. The Attic helmet has about a total height of about 31 cm.
