Attilio Bertolucci

Attilio Bertolucci ( born November 18, 1911 in San Lazaro, now a suburb of Parma, † June 14, 2000 in Rome ) was an Italian poet, literary critic and translator.

Life

Bertolucci began in 1931 to study law at the University of Bologna, but devoted himself soon the study of art history. He then worked as a teacher of art history at various schools in Parma. In 1939 he married Ninetta Giovanardi and had with her two sons; the later directors Bernardo ( born 1940 ) and Giuseppe Bertolucci ( 1947-2012 ). During the war he retired from 1943 to 1944 with his family in the remote mountains of the Apennines back.

1951 Bertolucci went with his family to Rome where he worked for various broadcasters (including RAI) and various magazines. Besides his poems, he also dealt with translation into Italian. He transferred among others Works of Charles Dickens, Ernest Hemingway, William Wordsworth, Honoré de Balzac and Marcel Proust.
