Atwood (crater)

Atwood is a small lunar crater in Mare Fecunditatis, near the foot of the striking crater Langrenus with which its southern edge is connected by low ridges of ejecta. He, together with the craters Bilharz at its western edge and Naonobu in the north a group of three. All three had previously been considered satellite crater of Langrenus.

Atwood is approximately circular and bowl- shaped, and has in its interior a low central elevation, which is connected by a chain of hills to the north rim of the crater.

The crater was named Langrenus K, before it received its current name in 1976 by the IAU.
