Atzenbrugg

Atzenbrugg is an Austrian market municipality in the district of Tulln in Lower Austria with 2733 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013).

Geography

Atzenbrugg lies in the valley of the Perschling where this also occurs in the Tullnerfeld. The district capital is Tulln 18 road miles away. The area of ​​the municipality covers 25.94 square kilometers, of which about 5.39 percent are forested.

The municipality comprises the cadastral Atzenbrugg, Ebersdorf, Hütteldorf Moosbierbaum, Tautendorf, Trasdorf and Weinzierl bei Atzenbrugg.

History

After Kuenringer named Azzo, who ( in 1100 ) the first bridge over the " ravenous " Perschling allegedly struck here. After the extinction of Kuenringer the possessions went to the Melk Abbey, and for a time was quite a sought after area, with two locks ( one a hunting palace of the Empress Maria Theresa) testify.

According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 2,497 inhabitants. In 1991, the market town of 2,322 inhabitants in 1981 and 2,245 in 1971, 2,295 inhabitants.
