AU Optronics

The AU Optronics Corporation ( AUO) (Chinese友达光电/友达光电, Pinyin Yǒudáguāngdiàn ) now belongs to the BenQ Group and is the largest manufacturer of LCD screens located in Taiwan in the city of Hsinchu. The company has been (founded 1996) in 2001 from the Acer Display Technology, Inc. and Unipac Optoelectronics Corporation founded. In October 2006, it merged with Quanta Display Inc. to occupy with its production 20% of global TFT LCF Markets. AUO manufactures LCD panels for companies such as BenQ and ViewSonic. Main markets for AUO products are the U.S., Japan, South Korea, Netherlands and China. The AUO is the first TFT - LCD products, which was listed on the NYSE. 2004, ranked # 17 by Business Week in the Global IT Companies business.
