Au Revoir Taipei is a romantic comedy from 2010, which focuses on both the love and the city of Taipei. It is the feature film debut of Taiwanese director Arvin Chen and is known in Germany especially by attending the Berlinale 2010.

Action

Kai lives in Taipei, works in the noodle snack of his parents and performs a long-distance relationship with his girlfriend to Paris. To visit them, he makes a deal with the shady brother Bao Bao financed the flight ticket to France and explained in turn, Kai is ready to bring a mysterious package.

The film shows wharves last night in Taipei, where he is involved along with Susie, who works in a bookstore and displays cautious interest for Kai in a turbulent chain of events. Also Jiyong, wharves best friend, Hong, Gao's right hand and leader of a group of young thugs, and a lovesick cop occur. About some misconceptions, chases and a kidnapping occurs, the destination Paris in the background. Instead discovered Kai Taipei as the " city of love".

Reception

In the German speaking Au Revoir Taipei has received generally positive response from critics. The film is made because of the color scheme and the theme of the city in a series of films by Wong Kar -wai, one of China's most famous directors.
