Aubel is a Belgian municipality located in the Walloon province of Liège with 4138 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012) and an area of ​​18.83 km ².

The commune includes the hamlet of Saint -Jean- Sart (Dutch Sint Jansrade ) and La Clouse (Dutch Kluis ). While it is almost exclusively French-speaking today in Aubel country until well into the 20th century, a dialect spoken in Limburg.

Economy

The area around Aubel is known by the products of its food industry. Large abattoirs, meat processing plants, as well as by production of cheese, cider, beer, and apple syrup ( sirop de Liège). These products are exported worldwide and sold on the market taking place every Sunday in the town center.
