Auce

Auce ( German: Alt- Autz ) is a city in the south west of Latvia and is located near the border with Lithuania.

1426 for the first time a Owcze was mentioned in writing. 1576 Old Autz was separated from the goods of the first owner Johann von Bremen. Since 1667 there was a church. The manor house was greatly expanded in the 19th century. 1920 was here an experimental station of the University of Latvia. 1924 Auce was awarded city rights.
