Audax (cycling)

When a road cycling Audax called an organized long-distance event.

Here, a distance is traveled (from 200 km) in close formation with an average speed of 22.5 km / h. Until 1960 it was 20 km / h

The most famous Audax is Paris -Brest-Paris 1200 km. This Audax organized the Union des Audax Françaises every five years ( during the Brevet Paris -Brest-Paris takes place every four years ).

The counterpart to the Audax is the Brevet, in which the cyclists do not ride in close formation, but also to determine their own pace. In some countries (especially the United Kingdom and Australia), the term is also used for Audax brevet.
