The Aude is a river in southern France. It rises in the Pyrenees, in the municipality of Les Angles. Your source is located in the Pyrénées Catalanes Regional Natural Park. The Aude drained first general direction north, turns at Carcassonne to East, Southeast, and later on leads after 224 kilometers in the municipality of Fleury, into the Mediterranean.
The river is in the upper reaches of natural and one of the most beautiful rivers in the south of France, in part, the Aude is dammed for energy. The underflow east of Carcassonne is scenically less attractive because the river water used for agricultural irrigation.

Shipping
Generally, no navigation is possible on the Aude. However, downstream of Carcassonne accompanied the flow of the Canal du Midi and is partly used to supply water to the shipping channel.
In the area of Sallèles- d'Aude the river from Canal de la Robine is crossed, by the Canal de Jonction has the north to connect to the Canal du Midi. Here, the shipping is allowed on the Aude to a few hundred meters.
