Audrain County, Missouri

The Audrain County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. In 2010, the County had 25 529 inhabitants and a population density of 14.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Mexico.

Geography

The County is located north of the geographic center of Missouri and is in the northeast around 40 km from the Mississippi River, which forms the border with Illinois. The Audrain County has an area of 1805 square kilometers, of which ten square kilometers of water surface. At the Audrain County borders the following Nachbarcountys:

History

The Audrain County was formed on January 12, 1831 from parts of Ralls County. It was named after Samuel Audrain, an early settler in the area.
