The Audru ring ( also EST Ring, Pärnu ring or ring Sauga ) is a race track in Estonia. The ring is approximately 5 kilometers north of the port city of Pärnu on the floor of the small town Sauga. It was opened in 1992 and is the only permanent track in Estonia.

History

The name of EST -Ring was coined from the former operator, the Estonian Autosport Union. There is also the name Audru Ringrada. Even during the 1950s and 1960s was in Sauga on a road course called Sauga kolmnurk ( Sauga Triangle ) Racing powered by motorcycles and Formelfahzeugen. It is reported that even some Russian drivers drove at night to drink with their race car in the city.

1984, a first proposal was submitted by Enn Teppand to convert the former triangular course in a modern 2.3km race course. But this meant some parts of the course even the public roads remain accessible. It prevailed even mind games to bring Formula 1 to Estonia. The first Grand Prix in an Eastern Bloc country started but then in 1986 at the Hungaroring in Hungary.

The 1984 planned project was ultimately not implemented. It remained in some preparations and road construction work. In 1992 the line was opened today. This was established in 2001 under the auspices of Teppand substantially rebuilt. To start and finish was moved from the present curve 4 in the northern part of the route.

The total length of the route is now 2173 meters. However, it is possible to divide the course into a northern course with approximately 1100 m in length and a 1250 m long South Course. The South course is designed so that it can be driven on and counterclockwise.
