The floodplain is about 19 km long, right or southeast tributary of the Leine in southern Lower Saxony ( Germany ).
Geography
The floodplain is created about 2 km south of Westerhof, a southeastern district of the municipality Kalefeld by the confluence of the coming from the southeast Kneppelbachs and coming from the south Sägemühlenbachs.
From this "Bach Wedding " ( " Auequelle "), and which is located at 151 m altitude, the floodplain extends in a predominantly north-westerly direction through the districts of the towns Westerhof, Willershausen, Oldershausen, True, Kalefeld and Sebexen (both districts of Kalefeld ).
Then it flows through Oppershausen by sharks Hausen ( southeastern districts of Kreiensen ) to open after about 19 km in length to 103 m from the southeast coming into the approaching from the south flowing line.
Headwaters
The main source of the river floodplain is coming from the southeast Kneppelbach included in the " Westerhöfer forest " rises south of Westerhof in Forstort " Aschau ". From its source, which is located at about 290 meters above sea level on the western slope of about 305 m high Kneppelbergs, to the mouth of the floodplain in the line of the river as a whole is approximately 23 km long.
The second source stream of the floodplain is coming from the south Sägemühlenbach, the entfließt not far from the south-southwest of Westerhof standing "Forest House almond Beck" a pond (about 195 m above sea level. NN ).
