Augie Meyers

August " Augie " Meyers ( born May 31, 1940 in San Antonio, Texas ) is an American musician. He was best known as the keyboardist of the Sir Douglas Quintet and the Texas Tornados later.

In the early 60s, Meyers was next to Doug Sahm founding member Sir Douglas Quintet. With his typical Vox organ game, he shaped the sound of the Quintet on hits like She's About A Mover (1964 ), Mendocino (1969 ) Nuevo Laredo ( 1970) and many others. Later Meyers also played on a number of solo albums and published Sahms own plates, also in the Tex- Mex style.

In the 90s, Meyers was next to Doug Sahm, Flaco Jimenez and Freddy Fender Member of the Tex-Mex supergroup Texas Tornados. Even as a studio musician Meyers was asked. He was, inter alia, Bob Dylan's albums Time Out of Mind ( 1997) and " Love and Theft " (2001) with.

Meyers lives in Bulverde, Texas. Since the 70s, he runs it from there own record labels such as The Texas Re - Cord Company, Superbeet Records and White Boy Records.
