Mill dam at Leistenow

The Augraben is a small river in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern. It rises in the Ivenacker Lake and flows in a northerly direction through the Augrabenniederung. In the area of origin in Ivenack he was on some kilometers of the border between Mecklenburg and Pomerania. It ends with Zachariah in the Tollense. Virtually the entire course of the river is unpaved, so that was preserved its natural character. Since 2008, few beavers have settled particularly in the upper reaches, which spread further. Because they are disturbed in some areas, they are damming the river there and widen. Halfway between Gatschow and Leistenow is located on the old Augraben Leistenower watermill. Since 2010, old weirs and barrages, which represent an almost insurmountable obstacle for fish and crabs, replaced by elongated flat fish ladders.
