The Firnhaberau is the 28th municipality in the north of the city of Augsburg, which in turn has the status of IV planning area. The district has about 5200 inhabitants and an area of 7.83 km ² (2009 and 2011 ).

Location

The district is bounded on the west by the Lech River and the east by the district of hammer forging. In the south, the Firnhaberau extends to the edge of Lech Hausen and in the north to the city limits. The A 8 crosses the Firnhaberau in west-east direction. In the north of Firnhaberau the partially renatured Augsburg mountain of rubbish is ( former landfill Augsburg -north) with the European pond and the wastelands Lechfeld mill and forest home.

History

The name Firnhaberau goes on Commerce Friedrich August Firnhaber (1823-1887), a director of the Augsburg worsted spinning, back. He acquired 1883, the densely vegetated floodplain right of the Lech river of the State Forestry Administration as a hunting ground. Demographics
