The station Augsburg- inch high located on the eponymous district Hochzoll, east of the city center of Augsburg, named and may be shared with the Oberhausen train station as the second most important railway station of Augsburg to the main train station. Directly in front of the wedge railway station coming from the main train station tracks separated into the railway line Munich -Augsburg and the pair of roller coaster.

Construction

The Hochzoll train station takes a special form: Since right before split the tracks at a switch in the direction of Munich and Ingolstadt, he has thus something " exploded " at two train routes platforms and is: The tracks 5 and 6 are located on the pair of roller coaster with each with its own platform, the tracks 3 and 4, however, lie on the railway line between Munich and Augsburg, and here have a common platform. The also located on the railway line from Munich to Augsburg tracks 1 and 2 are not currently in use. After the completion of the four-track planned expansion of its route to Munich these tracks are only provided for the passage and freight.

Is the station building, where previously stood a ticket office is open weekdays and other machines between platforms 4 and 5. Meanwhile, the ticket office is closed and has been transferred to the newly constructed platforms the machine.

At the high Zollernstraße which under performs the two rail tracks east of the station building, is the same bus stop for the city bus line 29 and a stand, which also sells tickets for regional services have been available since the closure of the ticket office.

Between November 2007 and April 2008, a Bike & Ride facility with 256 covered bicycle parking spaces built on the former site of the kiosk to improve the poor conditions regarding the storage space for bicycles. The temporary bike racks, which were under restriction of traffic on the High Street Zoller under the two bridges were dismantled.

The kiosk is currently temporarily housed south of the station at the high Zoller Str in a container, here is not yet clear whether the operator receives a new building or even moving into the station building.

Transport supply

The station has connections to all regional rail and regional express trains that leave the Augsburg Central Station to the east and then run over Aichach to Ingolstadt or Mering to Munich. The only special feature is the above-mentioned splitting of the railway lines, which is noticeable in the slightly longer distance between the platforms. In the long-distance transport Augsburg- inch high is not used.

Augsburg- inch high is located in the tariff area of the Augsburg Transport Association ( AVV). Within the GCU Regionalzugstrecken have their own line designations. At high duty station therefore operate the regional trains on the way to Munich to Mammendorf as R1, on the way to Ingolstadt to Radersdorf as R2 and R11 as in Weilheim until after Schmiechen.

Between the tracks 1 and 5, a bus stop here weekdays only trains running city bus route 29 is ( in rush hour every 10 minutes). The station is occasionally used rail replacement bus for the (currently, inter alia, within the framework of four-track expansion often necessary ). About the high Zollernstraße the approximately 250 meters north of the station at the Friedberger Straße lying bus and tram stop Hochzoll center can be reached, the city bus line 29 stops at the additional tram line 6.

Current renovation and future

The station was completely rebuilt, as it is located on the railway line between Munich and Augsburg, which will be expanded as part of the Magistrale for Europe as a high-speed line Augsburg- Munich.

The same height platforms of the pair of roller coaster formerly located at the level of the station building and were replaced by two high-level platforms on the bridge over the high Zoller Str 2002.

The track body and the two platforms towards Mering-München/Weilheim were from 2000 to 2007 replaced by two drive-through tracks for long-distance traffic and two other tracks with an island platform for regional transport. Since 16 September 2007 the new island platform for the tracks 3 and 4 is in operation.

A further increase its importance owes to the S -Bahn -like regional rail clock Augsburg train station. As a commuter train station in the city center it is getting an increasing importance as a railway junction mainly through his numerous connections to the regional bus services: The Bavarian Regiobahn uses with their trains to and from Friedberg / Aichach / Ingolstadt all day every 15 minutes the train station. In and out direction Mering Bayerische Regiobahn also holds in the rush hour, alternating with the DB Regio every 15 minutes, so in and out towards the city center, a 7.5 - minute cycle is made.
