Augsburg Protestant Cemetery

The Protestant Cemetery in Augsburg has about 9,500 grave sites at a size of about 6 hectares and is located in Augsburg high-field area. The cemetery was established in 1534 by the Municipality of the city of Augsburg and was at that time outside the city walls. It is still used and is the oldest cemetery in Augsburg, be carried out on the burials.

In 1700, the administration building was built. From 1825 came to a church that was built according to plans by Johann Michael Voit and August von Voit. Lastly, a mortuary was added in 1837.

A special feature of the cemetery is his collection of old grave books that have survived to return to the year 1658. In this archive the grave monument inscriptions of the 18th century are listed.
