August Emil Braun

August Emil Braun ( born April 19, 1809 in Gotha, † September 12, 1856 in Rome ) was a German classical archaeologist.

Brown studied in Göttingen archeology and philosophy, then lived for a time in Munich and Dresden in 1833 and went to Berlin, where he followed Gerhard to Rome. There he was hired in the same year at the Institute for Archaeological Correspondence, first as a librarian and soon afterwards as secretary. 1834 Brown took over the editorship of the bull Tino, 1837 the Annali of this institute.

Brown taught at the Institute later galvanoplastic a workshop. For the Crystal Palace in Sydenham, he created a larger number of casts of important artworks.
