August Gremli
August Gremli ( born March 15, 1833 in Kreuzlingen, † March 30, 1899 ) was a Swiss physician and botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Gremli ".
Life and work
August Gremli, son of district physician John Gremli, studied medicine in Berlin and Munich, and then trained as a pharmacist in Karlsruhe. From 1876 he worked as a curator in the herbarium of Émile Burnat in Nant in Vevey; from 1899 he lived again in Kreuzlingen.
He published several works on the flora in Switzerland, 1867 his main work " excursion flora of Switzerland ". With Burnat he published several essays on the flora of the Maritime Alps.
Together with the pharmacist John Schalch (1796-1874), he discovered the rich flora, the roses and the orchids of Wangental at Schaffhausen.
