August Kopff
August Kopff ( born February 5, 1882 in Heidelberg, † April 25, 1960 in Heidelberg ) was a German astronomer and discoverer of many known asteroids ( minor planets ).
Life
From 1924 to 1954 he was the 18th Director of the Astronomical rake Institute ( ARI), first in Berlin and later in Heidelberg.
Kopff in 1906, then discovered still director of the observatory in Heidelberg, Kopff'schen comet, also known by a rendezvous of the Galileo spacecraft, as well as in the period 1905-1909 still 66 asteroids, and he is co-discoverer of two other asteroids.
According to him, the moon crater Kopff was named.
