August Querfurt

August Querfurt (* 1696 in Wolfenbüttel, † 1761 in Vienna ) was a German genre, horses, hunting and battle painter.

Life and work

August Querfurt was initially his father Tobias Querfurt students the Elder. , Later he went with Georg Philipp Rugendas in Augsburg in teaching. From 1743 cross- ford is detectable in Vienna, where he was in 1752 Honorary Member of the Vienna Academy. He mainly painted battle scenes in the style of Jacques Courtois, Philips Wouwerman and his teacher Rugendas. For Duke Karl Alexander of Württemberg cross ford painted a battle cycle consisting of twelve paintings, including the two colossal painting " The Battle of Belgrade " and " The Battle of Blenheim " (both 11 × 4 m). For Empress Maria Theresa cross ford painted a cycle of eight paintings with events from the War of Austrian Succession, which today are located in Vienna Museum of Military History.
