August Roterberg

August Red Mountain (* 1867 in Hamburg, † 1928 or 1939) was a German, living in the U.S. magician.

Red Mountain emigrated to 1883 in the United States. After he had learned the trade of a cabinet maker, he began at or before 1893 from a mail-order magic of Chicago. From 1894 he led a private magic business. With Red Mountain launched the time of the written Wizard of publications in English.

In 1908 he sold the shipping business to the mentalist Ralph W. Read ( pseudo Calosto ), 1916 he gave his shop to Arthur and Carl Felsman. Red Mountain moved to California, where he lived until his death.

Red Mountain, a pocket player (often sleight of hand ), invented the proliferating thimbles. He also created the so-called Excelsior Ball Trick came with the proliferating billiard balls ( Multiplying Billiard Balls, 1898).

Red Mountain has a place in the Hall of Fame of the Society of American Magicians today.
